Software

The PineWood Racer software package is designed with all the latest and greatest features available on today's computer systems.   It has a full support for Multi-Terminal Login, Network Support, Multi-Tracks, and soon to come a Master Server.  All of this software works together to provide a great system of networked computers and terminals to allow you to get the most out of the derby.

The full system consists of "Track Computer", "Status Terminal Computer", "Mini Server", "Login Terminal", and "Lookup".  They all work together as a massive system.  But not all systems are required.  Actually you can use this system with only one computer.  But using more will help to speed up and increase the usefulness of your system.  No matter how small or big you decide to go it's very easy to use and to set up.

PineWood Racer Track Computer:
The track computer is the main workhorse.  You will need to use one computer for each track.  This is the computer that hooks up to the Interface.  It keeps track of the status of all cars and information on all races.   It will print out race data after every race or if you would like, after all races are finished.   If used with the Mini login Server it will continue to update itself from the server as needed while cars are logged in.

Network Support:
A Mini Server is used if you have a lot of cars to race.   It allows you to be racing cars and add car numbers to the database all at the same time.   You can add more Login Terminals that talk to the Mini Server via a network, so that you can have an endless number of Login Terminals.  Once the car is logged in, its data can be accessed from any other PineWood Racer system on the network.  (Note: The network systems can NOT be running Windows NT, 2000, XP or newer)

Status Terminal Computer:
This computer runs on a simple, small, program and is connected to the serial or network port  of the track Computer.   After every race it displays the race results in a very easy to read screen.  This screen can be shown on a Big Screen TV or Projector by simply using a NTSC converter.

Car Login:
The car login program will allow you to log in derby cars before they are raced.   This will allow the computer to build a database of all the cars that need to be raced.   This database is then used by the track computer when cars are raced.

Lookup Computer:
This program is used to make a disk with all the race data on it which maybe purchased by any of the racers or other interested individuals.  The data will all fit on a 3 1/2" disk and will sell for no more then $5 per disk.

Race Wizard:
The Race Wizard will guide you thru the logging in of cars and race data.   Also assist you with backing up your data to disk and copying data off for friends to take home to there computer.

Race Lookup:
Allows you to perform search on race data.   Getting results such as best and average times for different clubs or age groups.
