The following is a list of links to help you get
started with a Barcode Scanner.

Programming the CueCat Scanner |
|
|
On any PineWood Racer v3.65
(Beta) or newer the CueCat will work without any
trouble. Other versions prior to v3.65, the CueCat will
not work at all. |

Other Barcode Scanners |
|
|
Most barcode scanners are
programmable for a prefix. I recommend programming your
scanner with the forward slash "/" key as the prefix
character because it works very well with my program. But if
you need to use another character then modify the pwr.ini file accordingly |

What do I need to look for in a
barcode scanner? |
|
|
You need to look for manually one
thing. It needs to support direct keyboard entry (aka keyboard
wedge). It also needs to support prefix programming. And
I recommend the Laser ones for the top of line. They work the
best and have the quickest response. But CCD and Pin
type are also OK. I have used a CCD for several
years. And I had trouble with cars that did not have a flat
spot long enough to place the sticker on. But with the
new laser one that I got it works very well now!
One other note, if you are going to get the CueCat as a barcode
reader make sure you get the Keyboard one. |
